Nanette (Nettie) Palay
MSN, APNP, PMHNP-BC, CPNP-PC, PMHS, LMT
As a dual board-certified psychiatric mental health and pediatric nurse practitioner, I provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers you to achieve your mental health goals. I employ an individualized approach that recognizes the many factors contributing to mental health. I recognize that mental health and medications are often misunderstood and intimidating for many. I listen to your concerns and involve you in the decision process of treatment options. I provide medication management in combination with supportive psychotherapy to help patients thrive. I will see patients ages 4- 65 years with depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, oppositional defiance and other mood disorders. I combine the flexibility and playfulness that I learned working for over a decade in primary care pediatrics with the mindfulness, stress management, and mind-body connection that I learned as a massage therapist.
No long wait times or insurance hassles-- I can get you in within 1-2 weeks time!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Mental health challenges are hard to navigate. Prior to the first visit, I welcome a call or email to answer any questions you may have. Then, I ask that you fill out an intake form prior to the first visit. At that first visit, I listen to everything that is going on in your life in a nonjudgmental, empathetic manner. I help you understand your symptoms. I provide guidance on both diagnostic criteria and evidence-based treatment options. We then set up the treatment plan together. I require follow-up appointments, usually every 3 months, but sometimes we need to see each other once a month. I am highly responsive to questions and concerns during business hours. I require a future appointment scheduled to approve refills. I offer a telehealth option, but prefer in-person visits. I have daytime, afterschool and evening appointment options.
I do not provide emergency services. In the event of an emergency, please contact 9-8-8 for crisis counseling or 9-1-1 for medical emergencies. I do not have admitting privileges and not on staff at any hospital to provide care for high acuity patients.

INSURANCE COVERAGE
I do not take insurance, but that does not mean that I am more expensive. Most co-pays for psychiatrists are $75 for 10 minutes with your provider. That is the equivalent of $225 for a 30 minute appointment. I charge much less for the same amount of time, yet I am much more accessible. I respond to emails within 2 hours and you will talk to me, not an assistant. I handle refills same day- you do not have to wait days or weeks to get a response. By not taking insurance, I can see you within 1-2 weeks (or sooner), rather than waiting 6 months to establish care. I find all of this allows you more access to care. You can always submit my bill to your insurance to be re-imbursed for out- of -network coverage. Please check with your insurance carrier on their policies for out- of-network coverage. I cannot guarantee your insurance company will reimburse you, but many do (meaning seeing me would be a better value than even seeing an in-network provider). You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of projected costs for treatment if you have any questions on price.
